If Ike starts to turn west, we(the boss said) are out of here!!
We just had to cut several trees out, one, hundred foot pine was
leaning over my neighbor's house and one split about 30' up and fell
on the same neighbor's workshed. we also watched a very large pine
across the road fall(on the road). Thank goodness it didn't fall
towards us. It missed all the power lines!! What a mess! I still have
too many pines on the property to hang around and worry and watch. The
house can be replaced, but the bird and us......that's a different
story.

Those folks that may want to get outta "dodge" can come to Weatherford,
Tx and wait out the storum. Currently have spaces for 4, but 50 amps
for 2. Will have more electric service when I get home in Nov.

I will make the same offer as well. We are in Prosper about 40miles North of
Dallas, but I
do have 50amp service for at least one. Everyone be safe with the storm on the
horizon.

invite,but if it gets to bad here our move will be to the northeast.
dont realy know where yet but makes no matter we will be gone. i have
the upmost respect for mother nature as i survived a cat 4 hurricane in
1957 at the age of 11years old. it formed out in the gulf and was on us
before we knew it. it killed 566 people and was named audrey. to this
day i remember the eye and the calm that came with it, and in short
order all hell was on us again.
thanks to all who have called and emailed us but dont worry we will be
gone if need be. i just serviced the bird and filled it up with fuel so
at the drop of a hat we can leave. thanks again and take care.

Thanks Ernie. We don't have 50 amp hookups, but we can put up a
visiting bus along side Sue's business in Boerne with 20 amp hookups.

This kinda sucks, but it has gotten everyone's attention in South
Texas. I have heard forecasts of up to 70+ mph winds here, even 150
miles inland in the San Antonio area. Panic buying is in full play.
Batteries, flashlights, canned tuna, spam (yuck), water is flying off
the local shelves. The wife got the last vienna sausages at the local
super market tonight, so we won't starve when the power goes out (as I
am sure it will in our area since it does that in normal storms). Our
local Sam's Club had 2(!) plug-in emergency lights left tonight and
just a handfull of flashlights. I got beer and wine! Hey, you got to
be prepared!! (I took hints from the Gueaskos on hurricane
preparedness supplies. Ask Pat Gureasko about the 'church ladies' she
ran into in their local store on Sunday morning when she was stocking
up on several cases of 'essentials' for Gustav before it hit them that
night)

We live on the edge of the heavily-treed Hill Country of Texas, so I
spent the evening cutting back trees from over the roof line of the
house again. I have about 48 hours more (before/after work) to
continue with that effort. Been 2 years since I cut them all back and
they certainly have grown!

If someone on the coast needs a place to run to, contact me offline.
I am hoping that Ike continues to veer right to the east so we won't
get hit too bad. On the other hand, we really do need the rain to
replenish our aquifer and "seasonal creeks".

Gonna be a long weekend! Luckily, my insurance agent is a forum member!

I have bus parking in Sherman,TX about 60 miles north of Dallas on Hwy 75.
Two sites, both with full hookups. One 50 amps coveredand one 20 amp on a slab.

We have 3 50amp hookups and can park another 3 or 4 in a circle. All
are welcome to come to Ponchatoula Louisiana. Let us know if you need
directions. I am a New Orleans native and have lived Hurricanes my
entire life, why you might ask, the answer is the family, culture,
