Wanderlodge II (?) on Bird of the Week - mbulriss - 02-18-2013 09:17 I saw the following note from Bill Schreurs regarding the Bird of the Week photo this week. It got posted as a comment on the picture in the Bird of the Week albumn, but I assume Bill intended it to be a post rather than a picture comment: ---- Hi Mike: Nice pic of the 84. Question, are you sure this is a Wanderlodge II, as Bob and Sandi's Wanderlodge II does not have any of the frills, including goat rail, searchlight, musical horns plus many other things. I wish I had my 84 still. Bill ---- To honest, I was just reading the Wanderlodge II decal on the side of the Bird, so I have always assumed that is what it is. My understanding was that you could order options that you wanted on the Wanderlodge II, just like any other Bird, so I assume the original purchaser ordered it with those items. Perhaps Eric will enlighten us further on his Bird. The Wanderlodge II was a brief experiment by Blue Bird company to offer many standard features as options in hopes they would appeal to a wider range of buyers. The story I've heard is they quit doing this after finding that many people wanted almost all of the options anyway. I've always suspected the real reason was they didn't like dealing with the added complexity on the production line. We've owned this coach since 2000 when we bought it with 65,000 miles on it. It's got 127,000 miles on it now and we still enjoy taking trips in it. The only thing we've added to the coach is a set of musical horns that I took off Rick Archie's wrecked Wanderlodge II. And she's got new tires, new ice maker, new refrigerator, new drapes, new flat screen tv's, new tires, new diesel generator, new rear view camera and a Cat diesel engine that runs like a top through the efforts of Clyde and the boys at Seguin Diesel. These birds keep going as long as you keep putting diesel and $$$ into em. We love her and plan to keep her for several more years. Usually get some complements when we pull into an RV park. Wanderlodge II (?) on Bird of the Week - Chet Geist - 02-19-2013 14:48 Ernie, I am out of the bird business at least for the time being.àOne never knows when that bird bug will bite again. ààI will be at the Lone Star Bird rally in Fredericksburg, Texas on April 5 & 6 in a cabin, but not a Bluebird.àI hope you can make it as I always enjoy talking to birders.àCoach was sold to an individual living about four blocks away, so I can still go look at it.àI still have Ronââ¬â¢s old toad (the 1988 Mitsubishi Montero) and have put it up for sale on Craigââ¬â¢s list in Austin. If someone is looking for and economical toad with all the towing accessories needed, have them contact me.àChet From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Ernie Ekberg Yea, sorry to see Chet get out of the bird. I'm always TRYING to keep my Bird Database current. Lots of Bird for sale/sold activity out there. Without sellers chiming in with sold and new owner information my database moves towards out dated fast. Send the sold and new owner information to "curtsprenger@gmail.com". Thank you.
Anyone that sells their coach...please let me know it's sold, and the new owner's information. I'm tracking over 1,800 Blue Bird Wanderlodge units and wish to keep my database current as possible. My efforts benefit many on this forum and other forums. I thank you.ÃÂ
