I think the engine rebuilder has this thing tuned down to make the sure the warranty is not needed. I am being quiet nice on the break in. Thanks Jim 3208 boost - davidkerryedwards - 08-23-2006 09:40 Do you have a pyrometer? If so, what are your EGT's? I noticed that overfueling on mine produced dangerously high EGT's. See how that works. I see 12 to 13 #s on my 250, that will vary due to ambient temperature and engine speed. Make sure you have absolute full throttle opening, it's common to have problems with that adjustment, the trans cable travel and the throttle pedal stroke can be tough to get right. You want full travel on the injector pump arm and all the travel out of the trans cable at the same pedal position. Frequently the trans cable will be at full travel and keep the throttle arm on the injector pump from opening fully. I removed my muffler and increased the exhaust pipe diameter to 5", easy to do and the noise increase is negligible, if you want power you must smoke. However, too much fuel can cause the EGT to soar, and you don't want the pistons melting and coating your exhaust system on the inside. Pyro readings should be limited to 1100 degrees, probe located 6 inches behind the turbo charger outlet. If they exceed that level on hard climbs the pump should be turned down or a charge air cooler should be considered. I am currently getting 10 psi of boost after turning up the fuel to boost pressure ration on the fuel pump. I still think the engine is not putting out and was wondering what boost pressure other owners are getting for max boost pressure on the 250 HP. Currently the coach is not sending cat black smoke out, and it is kind of nice not having people look at me like I just cut down the rain forest. Any input would be appreciated including tricks to max out the power. Thanks, Jim 82 FC Yorba Linda, CA [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
