nostalgic that it's hard to describe. None of the "seasoned" salespersons

wanted to assist. They knew nothing about it and in fact I believe they were

intimidated by the cockpit and the intricate workings of the coach. So I got

the newbie sales-kid and out into the rain we went. I taught him about the

coach over the next 3 hours.



This gorgeous machine has the 3208 turbo, Jake brake, new fridge, ducted air,

nice sound system....the tv over the pilot's chair works and even has a good

picture. Back up cam works great and every appliance functions properly. She

has the original paint and it looks good....orange and brown. Apparently was

stored indoors. The diamond plating on top is mint. It has a diamond plated

spare tire holder on the top at the back with a winch mechanism to load/unload

the spare. I didn't have an opportunity to pull the front panels to verify that

the rad is mod for swing out but I did see some hinges which looked like they

dropped the bumper. So I think it's got the swing out mod. Every switch, button

and control that I checked worked fine. Slide out mechanism was smooth and the

genny started right up. Doghouse has the original sound and heat proofing

material. Front air and heat works great. Even the misters on the wipers work.

The interior looks like it has had

very little wear. Tires are practically new and match all the way around.



I was stunned. I really couldn't believe how well this baby had been loved

over the years. She drove like a dream. So I took a stab at the dealership by

asking more questions. When were the injectors last replaced? (2002) Are they

sure about the mileage? (65K) etc. Well, to make a long story short, I offered

them half what they were asking. After several more go 'rounds with the sales

manager they accepted the offer.



Frankly I'm still in disbelief. Now that diesel is back down to $2.39 I'm

going to fill the tank and get ready for next weekend.



That having all been said, this particular coach needs to go to a full timer.

It's too sweet to sit and only be occasionally used. I will most likely look to

trade it for a toy hauler or outright sale to the right person. I don't see

these coaches as just commodities to be bought and sold. They are fine machines

and should be owned by individuals who understand and appreciate them.



So, keep looking. Your bird is out there.

to pounce on. So don'tbe afraid to list. If it sells for the price

you need your happy, if it doesn't you tried and be happy you kept

Interesting idea of course but not how I do it. I think the best way to
inspect a coach is to climb it, crawl under it, open and close everything, run
all the appliances, switch everything on and off, test everything possible,
start it, let it idle, drive it forward and backward, taste the water and oil,
whatever. In short...get dirty! Ask to camp out overnight in the coach and be
sure everything "feels" ok.

Just my humble opinion.

Gail, The best way to inspect a coach is to listen to the seller. The

more this guy says the less you can believe. Selling is a behavorial

science. the last crowd played on your excitement in finding a good

deal, and your greed to drop the bus from other buyers view. They

obligating you to a 20K deal over the phone in exchange for dropping

the bus from public bid. You baced the purchase on on word of mouth

then in the office when things showed up short they got rid of the

word of mouth (salesman went home). The dealer played you.



This is a hearsay approach . you are overhearing a conversation to

another and asking the guy to please sell you his bus. If you are

ever in the market for a slightly used bobcat tractor give me a call

Humble, maybe. Honest only if you say you know nothing about the
coach you bought to flip. The nestalgic story was cute. Most of us
dont have an aquired taste for glycol, I'll use the test strips

Aren't you a ripe one?! LOL

Strictly my opinion about how to inspect a coach. Why use test strips? After
all, you base your opinion of the unit on the seller's statements.

I didn't purchase my coach to "flip" it. I'm not a dealer and I'm not on here
regularly hawking coaches. I bought a very nice coach at a great price. I've
decided that it's in fabulous condition and I would entertain selling it. But
I'm happy to keep it and enjoy it myself.

Frankly I don't give a rat's ass whether you believe what I have to say or not.
If you were in my area I would be more than glad to meet with you and instruct
you on the importance of courtesy toward strangers. But I suspect you are a
crochety old fart with nothing better to do than use the internet to try and
make yourself feel important.

My, my, my! You take the day off and then come home late Sunday night
and try to get caught up on forum posts..........

You know, it should go without saying, but..... having been on Net
chat groups for about 12 years now, maybe it's not obvious to
newcomers to the Net forums these days:

It's really a bad idea on most forums to join on Saturday and by
Sunday immediately begin cussing out and threatening other members by
your third post. IT'S FOR SURE A BAD IDEA ON THIS FORUM. The
"importance of courtesy toward strangers" portion of the post was most
ironic.

NEW MEMBERS - review the Note on "Netiquette" on the forum front page
before posting.

Well, you pegged me. stop by early, visiting hours are over at 7:30.

Test strips will show the makeup of the radiator fluid. the 3208's
have a thin spot ( cylinder wall/ jacket??) if the engine is sitting
with improper ph or too much water, the jacket will corrode.

'80 35FC present parket value help needed please - one_dusty_hoot - 09-11-2006 05:05

Jack,
I for one totally disagree with you on "dispute" as
your second post was critical, flaming, and outright
obnoxious.

You claimed to have bought a motorhome for one-half
asking price, then your first post was about what the
present market value was on the one like you bought???

You claim that you do not believe Blue Birds are a
commodity then in the same paragraph tell readers that
you would sell yours.

Gail, who was just getting his breath from a $2900 Bird
deal gone sour buying lesson responded.

O'conner responded in a protective way for Gail's behalf
to proceed with caution or a buying mistake could be made
by him again.

You responded directly to O'conner ending with a salutation
in poor Spanish, Goodbye Chicken Shit.

I have never known anyone or heard of anyone tasting oil and
antifreeze during a pre-purchase inspection so I imagine I too
would step to the non beliver side of the line.

BTW:My opinion of value on an 80FC35 is 18-24K depending on
condition. You may see some higher than this but notice also
that they are "For Sale" not "Sold". Regards.

Hi Bob,

I think you may have gotten a couple messages mixed up. I don't recall
asking anyone what it's worth. I know its value.

I merely stated that I had just bought one and had gotten a good deal
on it, much better than expected on a coach that is in exceptional
condition. Certainly I did say that I would consider selling it to the
right person.

My coach is not an '80 model.

I don't treat this kind of coach as a commodity.

There are individuals who would use a nice BB as a full time home. I'm
not one of them. This particular coach is better than most its age out
there for sale and has low mileage to boot. I think it is better
suited for a full timer rather than someone like myself who will only
use it on the occasional weekend.

You are absolutely correct regarding my reply to the individual who
questioned my integrity. I should have simply ignored it.

I spoke with Gail and offered to let him inspect the coach and camp out
in it. No hurry, no rush.

If he doesn't want it for his purposes then no harm done. I'm happy to
have it!

obnoxious.

You claimed to have bought a motorhome for one-half
asking price, then your first post was about what the
present market value was on the one like you bought???

You claim that you do not believe Blue Birds are a
commodity then in the same paragraph tell readers that
you would sell yours.

Gail, who was just getting his breath from a $2900 Bird
deal gone sour buying lesson responded.

O'conner responded in a protective way for Gail's behalf
to proceed with caution or a buying mistake could be made
by him again.

You responded directly to O'conner ending with a salutation
in poor Spanish, Goodbye Chicken Shit.

I have never known anyone or heard of anyone tasting oil and
antifreeze during a pre-purchase inspection so I imagine I too
would step to the non beliver side of the line.

BTW:My opinion of value on an 80FC35 is 18-24K depending on
condition. You may see some higher than this but notice also
that they are "For Sale" not "Sold". Regards.
