Shore Water - Randy Merrill - 10-24-2006 23:59

Hi John,

I'd appreciate it if Rich would send me a copy of the shore water
pressure fix. It's one of the main things I want to get fixed on my
coach.

Thanks,

Hi John, Kevin, Curt, Randy

I just emailed the photos and info on the water modification to
John, Kevin and Curt.
Randy, email me so I have your return email address and I will send
it along to you too. Yahoo does not allow attachments. I will also
try to upload it to the files section.

Shore Water - Curt Sprenger - 10-26-2006 09:07

All,
Thank you for your input regarding the shore water issue.

The shore water flow issue is resolved. I took the old regulator/check
valve and brass fitting that connects to the coach water line with me to
a good plumbing store. We tried several things until we got a very close
match on length to the old parts.

The parts are a 1/2" check valve, 2" nipple, and swivel connection for
the shore hose. I made a plate the size of the old plastic, drilled it
out, 4 screw holes, one center hole for the swivel connection.

Pictures of the new unit are available if anyone is interested.

I use a regulator at the camp ground faucet so I didn't bother with a
pressure regulator.

The water tank fills faster and the faucets have good water flow from
the shore hookup. I removed the screen, etc. parts from the bath sink
and drilled out the center hole in the flat plastic piece to double its
size and that got the faucet flowing. Shower works great too.

That was an easy fix. On to the next project...

Curt, I didn't know you were having this problem at Buellton. I suffered with
this problem on our '81 FC31, and it turned out to be the hot water drain valve
was defective. That's the valve that has a long handle on it and works by
operating the dial from fill to drain. That valve gets calcium build-up just
like the sporlan valves do and have the same result. If your sporlan fill valve
is ok, check the hot water tank drain valve. It has the same effect as the
sporlan fill valve, believe it or not.

Good luck.,

Did you check the screen at the intake?

To get around the problem, I filled the water tank and used the water pump.

Dick, Others,

Some may have missed my post regarding the resolution to my problem. I
replaced the original shore hook up connection stuff, the pressure reg.
and back flow, with a check valve. All is resolved. We have great water
flow now when hooked up to shore water. I use a pressure reg. at the
camp site faucet so I don't need the regulator in the coach.

I'll file the hot water tank drain valve info. for future reference in
case this problem returns.
