John, we could set up a "fund" to help you get there. We plan on being in Fla
before the rally, and if we do this- we could have our meals at their new
clubhouse. The only time you need a ticket to get into the RIV is for their
dinners. Ernie- planning ahead

RIV - John - 05-05-2005 01:51

I just talked to Fred Vandenberg at BB and he confirmed that the
price for RITV 2005 is $485.00. I'm glad that I got to go to my FIRST
& LAST RITV last year, it isn't worth that much money for me to
attend again. Instead I will attend every Maxton Mini Rally for the
remaining races of the year and the Myrtle Beach Rally next year too.

I wonder if you can attend the pre rally in the field at Perry,
before RIV, without attending the RIV?

RIV - John Stiles - 05-05-2005 02:03

John,

Did Fred say why the sudden and huge increase? I noticed that
they did not add the 4th day back so is there something planned that
would cost this much difference? I had the same thoughts on the pre-
rally area. Say hi to "Buddy".

RIV - Mike Hohnstein - 05-05-2005 02:19

The RIV looked like a sales activity to me. Some celebration of the
Wanderlodge, but I suspect selling new coaches was the major interest for those
promoting the affair. It's obvious that those well heeled individuals, for whom
$500 is no matter, would be more likely to seriously consider a newer coach.
Obviously the new and improved "Coach Works" is interested in looking forward
and not back ward. That is the American way, I think.

RIV - David Thompson - 05-05-2005 02:25

Maybe we should consider the campground on the west side of I 75.
We've been going to the RIV for the past 5 years, what we really enjoy
is getting together with old friends and making new friends. Wonder if
there would be a daily fee to get in if you didn't stay there. As it
is at that fee, we would seriously consider not going.

RIV - John Stiles - 05-05-2005 02:57

Mike,

I tend to agree. It appears that the new "brass" either isn't
aware of or chooses to ignore what has worked in the past.
Wanderlodge ownership and loyalty has been kind of a food chain. In
order for the current owners to step up to a new one there has to be
demand for their older unit and so on down the line. It wouldn't be
very wise to persue only the top of the chain (the money) while
ticking off or ignoring the lower rungs. I certainly hope they have
another reason for the fee hike. For us FC (and older PT) owners
$480.00 will buy parts or upgrades that we might be wanting or
needing. Lets see, 3 days of entertainment or put the money toward a
moving map. Not too hard to choose.....

By the time of RIV, that $485 could be a half tank of diesel.

RIV - Bob & Carol Howald` - 05-05-2005 03:14

John:
Your exacatly right, and well said. Everyone know's what the
rally is all about " SALES" but without the support of the customer's
buying the used coach's the people wanting to move into the new one's
would have a hard time unloading their's. I too think BB is missing the
point. Customer royalty used to be the real substance at BB but it's
rapidly disolving. I can remember a time when if you even looked at a
different brand of coach you would feel like you were cheatin on BB.Iam
not sure but I think my first BB rally cost $75.00 and they used to
give away all sorts of door prizes during the entire affair. Time's
have changed.....Won't be attending this year...Bob 93pt40 Illinois

RIV - Jack & Donna Smith - 05-05-2005 03:31

John: Yeah, those moving map Navagation systems are good, But even
better, the $485 will purchase a new tire, so I could be secure using
the Nav system.. (Or make a dent in gettin a couple of Alcoas)!
