Electro Luminescent Dash - David Brady - 05-18-2007 04:22
Sadly, the LXi is the last of the Wanderlodges to have the
luminescent dash - neither the M380 nor the 450 have the
luminescent. This is one of the items keeping me from purchasing
the newer coaches...

In my 84FC, the guages were so dim and the EL background so bright, I had to
turn it down to the lowest threshold to read the guages. I even velcroed a mini
maglite on the steering column to shine on the speedometer. The guage lights
have improved since then. And it's a good thing since my eyesight has gone the

Yes the dashes can be rebuilt with a better panel than was originally
installed
With the new panel you have the ability to add aditional gauges lights
and switches just cut seal and mount

dead dash, approximately what cost would I be looking at to replace it?

I don't expect to be doing much night driving but all the same, the
dash is cool and it would be a shame not to have the benefit of it.

Yup. That's exactly why I fell in love with these old coaches. I've
had mine only a few weeks now and am loving every minute of it. Beats
the tar out of any of those new coaches they sell down at the local RV
dealerships.

Each dash is indidviually priced BUT look at the inverters and wiring
first Thos old dashes ar usually pretty tough unless you drill a hole
or otherwise damage it they will usually last as long as the coach

I couldn't resist having a crack at a picture. The result is a compromise
between making the dash bright enough, and still showing the bluebird high beam
indicator. I don't drive at night, or hardly ever, so I didn't even know my
Turbo Pyrometer has a burnt out light bulb!
