If I understand correctly we are talking
about the safety cutoff switch. They are not adjustable. You select one with
the correct cutoff temperature.

Ron, the book for my Primus says that they are 140 degree sensors, and will allow the toe kick fans to come on after the fluid gets to that temp.But in replacing one recently Bleakleyput in one rated at 110 degrees.

The snap disk on one of my heaters went bad and the FO replaced it with a piece
of wire.

I thought it might be important, called Cadet and found they don't sell this as
a spare part. So I bought a new heater for $100+ and guess what? When the new
heater came, it doesn't have this overtemp snap disk any more, just a wire
running along where the disk was.

So obviously, Cadet doesn't think it is important any more either.

If you really study it I bet you will find
that it has one of the overtemp switches that will not reset to replace the
snap disk switch. They are a little inline device. Cadet in wall
electric heaters were subject to a recall in the early 2000s due to overheating
and causing fires.

Morey,

The Cadet heaters in my '99 LXi were recalled in 2000 because they had a
overheat shutoff that had a reset button on the front. The new ones have this
thermal safety reset on the inside. It seems that people were resetting the
thermal cut off device without cleaning the dust out of the inside which, in
most all cases, was the cause of the cut off activating in the first place. The
new position forces you to open the heater to reset it and their thinking is; as
long as you have to open it to reset it, you will clean it at the same time.
Other than the position of the thermal protection device, they were identical so
I saved the old ones for more parts that I never needed!

I believe that you will find a different type of thermal cutoff in your new
heater. I don't believe Cadet makes a built in toe space heater without such a
device.

I wonder if they will still replace my other heater. The new heater
instructions did say that the heater should be cleaned out every 6 months. I'll
get in touch with them on Monday and let everyone know.
