Tire Shopping - Jeff Miller - 06-04-2005 15:06 The differences between the XZ2 and the XZE are that the XZE is a long- haul all-position tire, the XZ2 is also, but considered their premium steer tire. The XZ2 has a de-coupling groove to prevent uneven wear at the edge of the tire (significant on the steer axle), and a pretty much straight groove tread with sipes for traction, very quiet. The XZE has a more conventional zig-zag tread which potentially could sing more. Last and most significant is the XZE tread is deeper, which could potentially cause more tread squirm while driving and reduce response/control somewhat. In discussing these differences with an Engineer at Michelin, it was agreed that although the XZ2 is clearly the best choice for the steer axle, the XZE would serve as well on the drive and tag axles. For a coach, the quietest and best-response tires all-around are probably the best choice however, which favors the XZ2. - Jeff Miller --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "pattypape" wrote: > > Thanks again, > > In further reviewing tire mfg. web sites, Jeff makes a good point > about the different spec. for the same sizes and load ranges for the > different mfg. > Michelin has a XZ2 and a XZE model, > Does anyone know the difference?? > The spec.s seem to be about the same. > > Bill 88 FC I like the tire debate, still deciding to decide, > can't find FarmKing in Michigan Tire Shopping - pattypape - 06-04-2005 23:18 Jeff, Will you be in Frankenmuth?? Thanks for the explaination. Will decide and order late summer/fall. Will replace the steer tires first, depending on this outcome, the rears get replaced, next year.
