Here's what I have found through actual experience concerning the PenFed card:
1). Has to be used at the pump!!! No discount inside!!!
2). It is good at any pump that takes a card, therefore we use it for all fuel purchases all the time.
3). You can use your Flying J RV card to get cash price, and PenFed gives additional 5% off.
4). 5% off is credited off statement automatically, don't have to apply for refund.
5). Joining is easy, just donate some money and $5 to credit union.
6). Credit union allows automatic payment of monthly bill by EFT.
7). I never have good luck with multiple swipes of credit cards at pumps with low limits. It always tells me to go inside?
8). I carry Flying J RV credit card also, but it is not as good a deal.

Thanks Gregg, that's the info I was looking for.

There's the issue I run into often. The pumps are set to shut at either $75 or $100 per swipe, so filling the bird often takes 10-12 swipes! What a pita! I end up with a 4' long credit card receipt. Big Grin All my trucks typically take 2 swipes to fill. I guess I'll have to look further at the discounts to see if its worth my time to use them. It's a neat idea, at least.

Response from PenFed. See post #30.

Thank you for contacting Pentagon Federal Credit Union.

Some fuel station operators have a limit of $75.00 on Visa credit card
transactions at the pump as a protective layer against fraudulent transactions.
If you reach the $75.00 cap, please swipe your PenFed Visa credit card again and
resume fueling.

PenFed's Visa Platinum Cash Rewards program provides cardholders with a cash
back credit for fuel transactions at the pump. The cash back reward is
determined by the Merchant Category Code submitted with the charge. A Merchant
Category Code of 5542 signifies AUTOMATED FUEL DISPENSE and qualifies for the
cash back reward.

There is no limit to the amount of gas you can pump in a single transaction if
you pay inside the station; however, if you pay inside and/or the merchant uses
any other code, you will not receive the cash back reward.

Unfortunately we are unable to determine at this time if the specified gas
stations use the appropriate Merchant Category Code.

Also, as of October 26, 2013, the cash reward for gasoline purchases was reduced
from 5% to 3% of the total transaction amount for Standard VISA Cash Rewards
accounts.

VISA Cash Reward Plus accounts continue to earn the 5% cash rewards. To have the
account converted to a Plus account you can obtain any of the following
qualifying PenFed products:

? Active checking account with direct deposit ($250 min.)
? Money Market Certificate or IRA Certificate
? Mortgage
? Installment loan*
? Equity Loan or Equity Line of Credit with a balance
? Thrifty Credit Service
? Personal Line of Credit
? Education Line of Credit
? Money Market Savings Account

* Installment loans include auto loans, boat loans, motorcycle loans, travel
trailer loans, personal and educational loans.

Note: Credit Cards and unsecured lines of credit are not qualifying PenFed
products.
Note: Once a cardholder has achieved the Plus account it will not be down-graded
to a Standard account.

If you need further assistance, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Ashley Johnson
Pentagon Federal Credit Union

Seems Prevost Community has a tough time with constructive criticism. Apparently posts 23, 26, and 29 of this thread caused me to be banned from PC; travelite on PC no longer exists. In my opinion, a surplus of motives on their side clouds their heads and causes them to place business interests ahead of program quality, and at the expense of their membership. We don't have that problem here on WaGu because we don't have and will never have a profit agenda.

Man, it is so tough to get away from somebody's agenda! As the cartoon said "Me and Mommyduke's been thrown out a betta places"- from the Marmaduke comic strip. What's really tough to believe is the number of folks who will tolerate stuff like that. I never tolerated much and after experiencing what I did the beginning of the year, I SURE don't tolerate it now!!

I'm betting you'll still wake up tomorrow with a really great wife and 3 great kids. Wink

David,

The “leadership” of many forums regards their forum as their own little “fiefdom”. They massage their ego by playing the part of being the person(s) with the most expertise and knowledge about the subjects brought forth by the rank and file forum members. Any member that begins to build a reputation on the forum as someone that has more expertise and ability than the “leaders” becomes a threat to their self perceived stature. Consequently, the desire to protect their ego and stature limits the quality of information and assistance available to the membership from other members. That happens because members with much expertise to contribute eventually get banned or just get disgusted and leave the forum.

Thanks to your leadership, these practices do not exist on WAGU and I’m sure they will not on PREGU. The database you built on WAGU for Wanderlodge owners is the best source of information on the internet. I suspect that given time PREGU will have the best informational database for Prevost owners too.

Chuck

I see where Les Stallings posted on the Prevost forum about his new floors. He has a Monaco. The installed used quarter round.
Nice-Big Grin- not

RE: Prevost Community Fuel Discount Program - Itchintogo - 10-05-2014 22:35

I reviewed your posts 23,26 and 29. All you did was report your findings. Findings that are supported by other members.

I really don't see why anyone would exclude you for that. That is pretty thin skinned.

Keep on keeping on David.
