I have the oppurtunity to purchase said veh. It seems to be in good condition and road worthy. Seller has all paper work from original build( all paperwork) two milk crates of paperwork! Sounds good looks good, needs to be buffed and waxed. Would you purchase such a veh. If you were good mechanically and had the time to work on it

Sounds pretty good to me. FCs with the Allison 4 speed and factory rear axle gears don't like high speeds. If you are ok running around 60mph max it works out. You can expect 8 mpg overall. Check the date codes on the tires, battery condition, and if the old "boiler" battery chargers have been updated.

Having owned a '78. I would purchase that, today, for that price! Can you tell us where it is located. Not trying to undermine you, but may know the owner.

I can't imagine finding one cheaper. At that price there is little to no room for further negotiation if it looks that good. If it fits your needs and desires, then that is a 'buy it now' before someone else sees it.

When I think of the time we bought a used 84 Winnebego Elandan for $23k in the late 1990's, blew the engine up, spent $8k on a "racing" high torque rebuild, and then sold the whole works for $15k, I think you've got yourself a steal (and a lot of steel) for $10k.
In comparison, the Winnebango was a piece of ever deteriorating fibreglass s**t. Had I bought the Bird you're looking at then, for even $50k at the time, it would have been a way better investment, and I'd likely still own it. That vintage of Bird was what made me fall in love with Wanderlodges.
It's a gorgeous coach, and as long as you are prepared to treat it like a fine yacht and keep it up it will serve you well. It doesn't matter if a coach is ''74, '84, or 2004, they all need care and attention.
Go buy it and enjoy it.
