If this system lives up to its great reviews; it would be ideal to install and use in our coaches. Filter lasts 6 months (maybe longer in a bus?)and costs $50. Anyone have experience with this product?

Looking for softeners: Here are 2:

I'd like to find someone with one first. I've seen them, just haven't stopped by---yet--- easy to see as they sit outside.

Worth separating two things here: salt-based portable softeners (like the Watts RV-PRO) genuinely reduce hardness, while citric acid systems like NuvoH2O condition the water without actually softening it. If you want to avoid hauling salt bags, a quality Salt Free Water Softener using template-assisted crystallization is a closer middle ground than the NuvoH2O approach. Not the same as salt-based, but a real step up from citric acid.
