Brilliant! Be cooler-- drive with the awning out - dentmac - 03-24-2014 17:10

LOOKED LIKE THE FLYING NUN.
Stress for the day. Leave RV park after proper walk around. A mile down the road a pedestrian points at us. No big deal -- but then again, someone points--. Pull over -- the curb side rear Girard is all the way out. (Roof mount). Hit NOTHING! just flapped I guess.
It comes in but not perfectly , the metal cover is 3/8 inch out of line at the front.
Off we go -- 1/4 mile, I see it coming out! (Now I've moved the mirror up so I can see it-- couldn't before)
Pull over-power it in- and use "Worlds strongest tape" to hold front in.
Off again-- Now the back starts coming out. 3 feet.
Now--- Cut the Friggen wires on the roof!

Unbelievable that no safety interlock to prevent movement in gear! (didn't have that awning out that day)
Just another Blue Bird screwup-- (I should say 450 screwup-- )

Ross
You need 120 V to run the Girards in and out, was the generator on?

No generator. They run when dry camping, so is through inverters.

Ross, if you had gotten out on the highway, maybe with both sides out it would have been like an airfoil, lightened your rear end!Tongue

On the 450, it is the FRONT end that needs to be lightened---Next time I'll put the FRONT awnings out Smile

Update... learning

Bluebird in their wisdom rolled the rear awning backwards....should be rolled into bottom of roller) So IN is OUT.
It seems that for some reason, the wind anemometer sent a signal to the awning to retract... so it extended.
Now I have hand cranked the awning properly and worked on the limit switches . Very confusing as they are backwards to manual. Tech support at Girard was great and have them almost perfect now. I have to manually stop the out as the limit switch may be pooched.
Part of my "Battening down" is to turn the Girard Breaker OFF as there are no safety interlocks.

Worked on it a little more. Limit switches adjusted and everything perfect. Smile
