Musical Horn - cmillsap - 12-10-2014 17:12

My musical horns doesn't work. When I switch the power to on, I hear a loud click outside coming from behind the center of the front cap and a momentary reverse "L" on the digital readout, then nothing. I assume that is the brain making the noise. Finding it is another matter. Appears not to be behind the center door on the lower dash which makes me think it may be located outside behind the center of the front cap. Anyone know exactly where it is and how to get to it?

Secondly, from what I have read PMMI no longer repairs the brain? Is there another source to get it repaired........ if I can find it and remove it?

As an option, has anyone installed another source of music such as an MP3 player that can play songs through the speakers on top i.e. "the horns"?

Here is an image of the "cpu"
[attachment=1487]
this one was sold for $500.00
in the image the Mfg number is 409-647-4421 and a google search of that number reveals that the number prefix is changed and the business was at Cocklebur Flats Industrial Park County Road 375 Old Ocean Tx .

search of that lead me to this page
http://www.pages24.com/houston-tx/4211481-pmmi-electronics
there is an active musical horn link to a page under construction?
the listed phone number is (281) 293-8000 . google search of that number also shows a contact email of sales@pmmi-electronics.com
The readout may be a code indication the fail issue? My musical horn also has issues. but works fine when it gets power. I think there is a problem between the dash switch on off and the cpu. I hope this helps

I did a whois search of the pmmi website under construction. Whois is a internet term. a whois record displays ownership of a domain and other details like ;what server the domain resides on,;who is the owner,;who is the webmaster, who is the registrar';who is the legal contact. .
firs step is to look at http://www.internic.net/whois.html and enter the domain. you may need to then go to the domain name registrars whois record index. This is a good tool to use prior to entering a creditcard number or when you need to contact a vendor by phone.
An interesting whois search is " wanderlodge.com" Networksolutions whois server is typically hidden a bit it is not whois.domain it is http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp

Sorry to say we’ve had to get out of that business. Wish I could have helped.

I wonder if he'd give us the parts list and circuit diagrams so we could keep ours running?

That's probably why he exited the business. To many folks wanting something for nothing. Idea

I dont believe it is asking for too much to request the info ,technical or trouble shooting procedure. it is a business place to ask a price and consumers place to accept or refuse. Offer-Acceptance-Performance-Payment. But you may have the theory of stolen efforts reversed. Did PMMI pay for the rights to sell electronic copies of the songs?

I now have fitted the goat rails with 6400 watts of amplified music for major events and surprisingly still love the fun with the horns. we had a bunch of fun with it parked at the Rose Bowl blasting the UCLA fight song. Playing Reveille at our Rallies for morning coffee, Playing 'up up and away' when the Balloons lift off at our May Temecula Hot Air Balloon event. Playing the Horse Race William Tell Overture in my front yard which faces the Santa Anita Training Track.
