Chinese Tires - krminyl@... - 07-27-2005 01:19 Jack, Never heard of the Duramax, but the Hankooks (Korean) have received pretty good reviews, and around the same price at Pete's in Fullerton (the 12R's anyway). The 11's should be cheaper. For tires that we'll never wear out (mileage vs time), my attitude is go with the cheaper tire as long as they have equal load rating as the more expensive US brands. I'll probably go with the Hankooks in a few months when I replace my drivers...around $1300 for 4, on the road, at Pete's. For some reason, the Corona store quoted me about $20 less per tire than their Fullerton store...I'd check with both. Later.... I have put about 4K on them, so that isn't much of a test, but they have been fine. Made by Bridgestone in China. Since they will rot before wearing out, seemed like a good decision to me. The 11RX22.5 16 ply, load capacity of 6610# singal, and 6005# Dual. Price is an attractive $267 each, including some $28 Excise tax What "exactly" are the drawback or advantage to these tires? I realize that there is a stigma to anything Chinese, as it being "Cheap Crap" (Much like General Motors comments on Toyotas in the early 70s). I plan to install these on my 73FC31, which weighs in at some 23,000# Has anyone tried them, or will I be the "Experiment"? We sell a lot of truck tires that are made over there and have had good results. Look at the DOT on some other name brand tires and you will find most are made over there. Most are about half the price of Michelins.
