Is it realistic to find an older 31ft for around $20k? getting tired of the 85
gas Beaver MH
and have convinced (sort of) the wife that a Bird is the way to go.

looking for 31ft older Bird - Mike Hohnstein - 08-22-2005 01:19

There are some great values out there IF you are NOT mechanically challenged.
You need do your own maintenance, and keep a sharp eye open for problems before
they put you on the side of the road. A 3208 is a whole lot more dinero to fix
on compared to a big block Chevy/P30. On the big plus side, freedom of non
warping side walls or toxic chemicals emanating from "adhesive" intensive
interior components justify assuming stewardship of a vintage Wanderlodge.
If your budget is tight, forgetaboutit.

Yes, But you may spend $10K to 20K in repairs and renovations.
But, you will have a great motorhome when finished.
You need to be able to handle many repairs yourself or have
really deep pockets.

Hello,
Considering selling my 1979 FC35. 3208CAT, 4spd auto. Rear bedroom. All solid
oak cabinets (original floorplan but cabinets replaced.) Needs some TLC but
road-worthy. All new tires and injector pump rebuilt. Removed and cleaned both
fuel tanks. New holding tanks. All plumbing is solid. Gen works but needs tune.
Well under 20k. Love my bird but haven't been able to find the time.
