Please help- what is this box for? - sfedeli3 - 10-17-2005 01:20

Hello all,
Since owning my 85PT40, I've wondered what the purpose of this
white box is in the basement of the bird. (please see photos link and
look at "What the heck is this" towards the end) It has no writing on
it and a large 2ga. 12V wire going to it. Thought that it might be an
iverter, but not sure. Does not appear to have any 110V wiring coming
out of the other side. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shane:

That box is the electronic filter unit. It has been moved from under the
sofa to the bay. That is the unit that your master electronic switch in the
over head compartment, drivers side, nearest the galley/salon area,
controls. That filter stops the spurious noise put out and controls all
your clocks timers, level panels and so forth in your coach. It is
important, so don't remove it, just re locate it if it is in the way.

Safe travels,

Shane,
Is there a fan in one end? That white box looks like the battery
chargers I removed from our 1987 PT38.

Hi Ralph,

Many, many thanks to you and also to Oene Pomper. Both of you
indicated that it was a 12V noise filter. It's not in the way, but
I'm a nut about knowing what things do and are for, so I had to ask.
My digitell system never has worked, but the clocks, level meters
and such all work fine, so I guess the unit is functioning as it
should. Thanks again for the tip.
