DEAD DOMETIC/KIT FORM? - racin41bb - 10-20-2005 07:08 Our 4 year old Dometic RM2820 Classic refrigerator developed a pin hole leak in the cooling unit. The manufacturer's warranty is 3 years. We now have a new unit which came without the drip pan--just a drain hose dangling from the box. Tonie's RV received another RM2820 a week earlier with the same "made on Monday defect." One things for sure, without a drain pan the floor and possibly the electronics are going to get wet. Dometic does seem to be too concerned--will send pan and allow 2/10 of an hour labor for the installation. I guess that's all you can expect for $1200+ CHECK YOUR UNIT AND MAKE SURE IT HAS A DRAIN PAN. If you have recently purchased anything from Dometic be sure and mail the warranty card. They notifiy registered owners of an optional 3 year extended warranty sometime prior to the expiration of the initial warranty period. I will remove my latest RM2820 and inspect for signs of pin hole leaks in the cooling unit when the orginial warranty is about to expire. If I see corrosion or rust I'll purchase the extended warranty. Bill & Rita in Roanoke, VA 78 & clear 1987 FC-35 |
