Sign your posts - Netiquette reminder - mbulriss - 01-13-2006 12:15 We have had lots of good posts lately, but more and more are going unsigned. People here generally like to know who they are talking to, so as reminder of the front page Netiquette rules: As a courtesy, please sign your posts, add your location, and indicate the type of Bird owned (if you already have one, or 'wannabe' if looking) so that answers to your questions can be addressed more accurately. Glad you are back- looks like I fell down on my job. Most active forums require signatures from members, and we are no different. Please sign your posts with your name, type of Bird (or "Wannabe" if looking to buy), and your general location. If you are looking for answers, it is easier to respond to a post that includes the relevant information about the coach in question. A location in the signature often leads to specific geographic area answers when looking for service, parts, or help. Signing posts is just common courtesy and allows other members to know who they are chatting with. As a private members-only forum, the only people reading these posts are other members, NOT the general public. One recent new ex-member, when asked privately to please sign his posts, responded too vehemently that he was not signing anything - for fear of 'people' take a joke, but this job doesn't pay well enough to take abuse.) **If you are paranoid about the 'gubinmet' tracking you, and/or you have something to hide, you shouldn't be on the Net in any fashion any way!** Here's a recent reminder from another forum I belong to: "We require signed posts. The government will read anything and follow everything straight back to the plug in your wall, whether it being a mansion or a trailer, the only ones one you are succesful in hiding from is US, the listees. And being here on this list, we're supposed to be your friends..... AND nobody has friends with no names!" That pretty well sums it up. In general, we want to know who we are sharing information with. (Many members-only Corvette and Harley forums refuse to accept any unsigned posts to avoid the prospect of potential thefts by unknown indivduals. Repeated offenses lead to moderation or banning.) SO......, PLEASE SIGN YOUR POSTS. Most email programs have signature files that you can create so that you don't have to type the information each time. Look in the help files for your email program to find out how to create a signature file. Thank you! Mike Bulriss San Antonio, TX |
