Loose wheel SP36? - williamcharrison - 04-06-2006 03:20

I took the bird out for a test drive after replacing the thermostat
and ran over a rather large pothole at which time I heard (and felt)
a rattling from the right front wheel which felt similar to an episode
I experienced with an old truck I had which turned out to be worn
kingpins. Questions are: does this coach have kingpins and if so
how big a job is it to replace them?

Chuck,

Yes, your SP has king pins. I have not done a replacement of them
on my SP, but if it is anything like the other work I have done,
(brakes tires, valve adjust, fan clutch, radiator) it is not any
different than on a car, tractor, etc. Just much bigger,
heavier, etc. You will of course need the proper size
reamer, etc. I am sure the parts are available from Blue Bird,
however, they are probably available from bus - heavy truck parts
suppliers also.
