Thanks, Bill 88 FC Michigan 8.0 K Onan - Alex Smith - 06-19-2006 03:49 Bill, I'm running behind in reading the mail, so you may already have a responce. I have a Powertech generator with a Kobota 3 cyclinder D-905, BG1 diesel engine. I think it dates around 1994/5. Onan takes the Kubota manual and applies Onan part numbers, So even the Kubota dealer can not help. The numbers do not cross. This has given me a growing dislike for Cummins,Bridgeway,Onan, We are locked into paying more Green for parts painted Green. From what I found out my 927cc, 17HP, 3 cylinder diesel is a model #D950, discontinued in about 1989/1990. I found a manual online, this engine was used in tractors and sailboats, But I still go to Onan because they are nearby and they do let me read their manual. I noticed that even piston rings on the same model in various applications differ. I try to go around the OEM right to Kubota only to find the same frustration as you. The upside was an explanation from Bobcat-Ingerrand who said Kubota designed the engines to hold up best in each application. My light tower with a newage gen and kubota d950 has over 12,000 hours and the valve cover has never been off.
