gutter sealant - birdshill123 - 05-27-2006 15:09

While washing the Bird today I noticed some black sealant in the front
gutter above the windshield. It was covered with the factory paint. The
sealant has shrunk over the years. I would like to remove the old stuff
and replace with something good. Someone already tried with silicone
(bad choice). I do have some Sikaflex black ,forget the product #, but
this stuff is used by most major RV and truck body builders. I do
remember it was damn expensive. Very glossy. Probably not paintable but
who can see the gutters anyway? Any other suggestionas for a good
product?

Bruce,

I think it is a rain gutter only, attached to the front
overhead panel.
Sikaflex is the stuff to use. It comes in colors, BB has the
Gray color that I use.
Another is S-M 2100 Schnee-Moorehead Cura Sil,
Elastometric Sealant, It looks the same, smells the same,
HomeDepot /Lowes has a caulk, I have not tried.
