High oil Temp - jqrjr - 06-06-2006 06:15 I have a 1988 WLWB 8v92ta (1986) 475 hp..I have started having problems when I run about 1900 2000 rpm the oil temp runs up to well if you know the guage approx 260 - 270,when this happens the cooling temp runs up to. There had been a washer in the intake for the water pump, I don't know why but was there. The temp runs up then gets to about 280 oil temp and seems that the thermostat open and then there is a big drom in both cooloing and oil temp then they start to increase again. Took it to Detroit Diesel they do not seem to have someone whom knows these engines very well. The fellow who work on it was born in 1980.
