Jay i changed the water pump on my 8 92 two years ago only because of
gear noise. After it was changed it was louder, i called the DD tech,
he said to rotate the pump a small to bring the backlash down to i
think 3to4 thousands it would not rotate enough, i removed an drilled
out the holes. I still could not get less 5.5 thousands. I called the
dd parts about the rebuilt pump with worn gear, he said it should not
matter. I think so. A water pump may leak but will always pump. If i
were you i would install new or leave it alone. To check backlash
remove snap ring an center round cap.
