unwinterizine - Mark - 04-18-2005 14:35 I put potable water in tank, opened the kitchen & bathroom sink facuets. When I turn the pump on, i'm not getting any water or even gurgling air. I'm not sure how long I can let pump run dry or if I need and there is a way to prime the pump. Careful, the original pump is belt-drive and it will bite. You can disconnect the lines to see if water is making it to the pump, might be a stuck check valve or other on the suction side (had that before). The original pump will run dry, should self-prime. The pump won't pump water with it on the fil position. I've got the over 50 sydrome. Been there, done that more than once. One is for city service and the other is for filling the tank. These pumps a supposed to be self priming but perhaps a bit of encouragement may help. It gave the appearance of "lost prime"...I could actually suck water into the lines and get it going sometimes. I bought a pump at west marine. It took less than an hur to install.
