Everyone,

We want to thank all of you for your offerings of advice and assistance. We
were at River States Truck & Trailer until about 4:30 on Saturday. The bottom
line of it was an inability to communicate between their computer and ToWanda's
DDEC I. They tried everything but were unable to get their diagnostic set up to
sort through the MANY historical codes that ToWanda was sending out. So the
technician ultimately reverted to good, old fashioned mechanics. He
systematically went through and evaluated her from a purely mechanical level,
determined that all her systems were "go" and rendered his professional opinion
that driving her would not cause problems.

With that determination we parted company from River States by leaving them a
tidy chunk of folding green and set our headings for our original destination,
Antigo, Wisc. ToWanda ran like a top the entire way, all gauges reading normal
output levels and nary a "blip" in her performance. Our Big Girl did her thing
beautifully and we just IGNORED the "Check Engine" light. We will have her
looked at when we get back to the Twin Cities.

It's Monday morning and we are here at SlideMaster having our new pull-out trays
installed in ToWanda's bays. Really top-notch quality materials and
craftsmanship, as well as truly exceptional customer service. Even though our
appointment was for last Friday afternoon they worked us in to their install
schedule for first thing this morning. We will be headed back to Minneapolis
later this morning as soon as they are done with the install.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support. You made dealing with this
experience a lot less difficult and have provided us with some valuable
information that will ultimately help us in getting ToWanda's historical
diagnositic codes sorted out and on a current level.

Do you have a shop manual which explains how the check engine light responds to
detected malfunctions? For instance, in my Suzuki Sidekick, there are a number
of
parameters that trigger the check engine light. But, if the car goes through 3
driving
cycles without the malfunction being detected again, the light goes off. If
your Bird has
this kind of system and the light stays on, there's either a problem with the
detection
system itself or it is continuing to detect a problem.
Can the system be read with a standard OBDII code reader? If so, it might be
cost effective
to purchase one of them (less than $200), using it to clear the codes and then
use it again
immediately afterward the check engine light comes on to see what codes it is
giving off.
