Southwest bound in a few weeks - Rose Mary - 10-18-2006 05:35

Hi group
Mom & I have decided to take a real trip while her health is still good!
She is 85 years young and enjoyed a bluebird rally in Washington state
last year.
We are getting the bird ready for some time away from home. Departure
in about 3 weeks.
We're in the process of having the captains chairs, sofa and 2 chairs
reupholstered. Ordered Levalor type bamboo blinds. Think it will be
nice. I pulled out the original dusty faded draperies. The drivers seat
was worn out and the 80's upholstery was getting pretty tired. (rust
orange....) We'll live with the rusty shag carpet for now, it's like
new as my brother kept the vinyl runner cover on it...

Anyway, somewhere warmer, dryer, friendly.....
Mom enjoys beadwork, reading, sewing and walking her little dog. Flea
market, second hand stores...
I will not be pulling a toad so will need to be able to get around with
the coach (which I am getting pretty good at). I suppose if we find a
spot we really like and want to stay awhile we could rent a car....

Suggestions, any bb get togethers in Nov, early Dec?

thanks

Suggestions?

I really don't think the dog's name is "Flea Market"...I just think that the
85yr old likes to go to flea markets, second hand stores, etc. I think....

Rose Mary,
First of all, I admire you and your mom's, ability, gusto,
and courage to adventure in a motorhome, bet you two really
have a good time together.

Secondly, I like the name of your mom's little dog, "Flea Market",
so well fact, it will be a nickname for my Black Lab "Jake".

Love your posts,

Rose Mary,

We have some really nice trees in southeast Texas just east of I-45
about 80 miles north of Houston. There is a nice new RV Park about
10 miles NE of Huntsville on Hwy 19. There are many things to do,
and become a part of, in the immediate area of the Park and a sleepy
small city 2-3 miles on up the hwy. There are 2 BlueBirds in the city
(Riverside, Texas) one of which is mine. It has been parked since my
wife died almost 2 years ago. Jimmy & Mary Johnson park theirs a
block away. There is a "Dickens on the Square" event in Galveston,
Dec. around the 1st to 3rd. B-T-W, My coach is a 82PT40.

I would bring the Toad along, just avoid tight locations until you
get used to the way it handles. When maneuvering don't be affraid to
take your time and when turning look where you want to go and follow
that line with occasional glances in your merrors to see the Toad.

Happy Travels and Happy Dazes,

John B.

You're right!, I didn't see the comma, Still I like the
name. Mine gets a vial of Advantage between his shoulders
every month so he's not really.

Rose Mary, just about any where you drop your finger on the
South West area you can have a great time. I say that and not
from there. Take the scenic routes, enjoy. Try Albuquerque.

Didn't mean to de fame your mom's dog, sorry if I did.

Rose Mary,
That's great! If I could talk my 91 year old mother out of her 65 year old home
I would also take her for a ride in the bus. That ain't gonna happen. She's a
tough ol' Bird. Still blow'n and go'in, driving and telling the family what to
do. Hope she makes 100.

Liz, It does not get any better than a house call for a custom fit
bath carpet!! That is one of the reasons Bird owners are the best.

My mom will leave Tampa in a hearse to Brandon very slowly, about an 8 mile
ride. #$%^ the owner mortician has already died. At 63 I am the oldest of 7
and she is still older and incredibly healthy. I should be so lucky. Mom has
previously advised me that she is not going to take a bus ride. LOL>lol>lol>
