No longer a Wannabe! - Don Bradner - 01-08-2007 16:20 We picked up our new-to-us 90 PT40 today, and drove it back from Phoenix to Quartzsite. Swapping out starts tomorrow with the major task of moving satellite dishes, although I'm only going to move 2 of the 3, I think (yes, I have 3 now ). I won't be using one that is already up there, but it means there will still be 3. First couple of things: I suspect I may have some 12vdc issues, but I'm not sure - it will take some investigating. The dash DC voltage did not go over 13 volts. The previous owner installed a 2000 watt Prosine, and its display said that there was battery overheating. Neither alternator showed much amperage at all. At the back, upper right by the bulk oil gauge, is a blower fan. intake points at back grill, output goes through a hose to a long rectangular box against the top of the engine compartment at the extreme back. Did not see where the air could go after that. It was running after shut down. What is it? I know you will enjoy the many miles it will take you down the roads. Let us all know how your progress goes. I trust your Bird came with a Blue Box so that should help you a lot along with all the knowledge & help you will have from the Forum members in this group. That blower fan, if like our PT38, circulates air and cools the engine/compartment. Ours will run various lengths of time after shut down, longer if ambient temperature is higher. I haven't had the need to investigate this one, yet. See ya at Q in a few days. Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38 8V92 "MacAttack Racing" Anaheim Hills, Calif. It has a large looseleaf binder with much information, and a soft-bound "1990 Wanderlodge Wide Body Chassis Parts Catalog." That and the tune list for "The Horn" are about it. Oh, and the manual for the ProSine inverter. On 1/8/2007 at 9:33 PM Terry Neal wrote: >Congratulations Don on your new Bird!. I know you will enjoy the many >miles it will take you down the roads. Don Bradner http://www.arcatapet.net No longer a Wannabe! - Ralph L. Fullenwider - 01-08-2007 23:58 Congratulations Don! That fan is to help cool down the engine compartment. It is a good thing it is working, most of them do not anymore. It is normal for it to run as it is on a thermostat and will shut down.
