Synthetic Engine Oil - Pete Masterson - 01-23-2007 09:33 I know this will probably generate a lot of passionate opinions ... but what synthetic engine oil brand is suggested as "best" for a DD Series 60 engine. (I don't know what brand was used by the prior owner.) I found a good buy on eBay for a 5 gallon "pail" of Royal Purple synthetic. The radiator shop I used sells Redline brand. Both seem to have the appropriate API certification. Comments please? Pete Masterson aeonix1@... Royal Purple and Mobil 1 are approved by DD for use in the S60. Whatever DD approves I wouldn't hesitate to use. I dont use synthetic because I run the used oil in the fuel tank of my work trucks. I have used Mobil Super 1300 for some time in my old Cat 3208, my diesel tractor, and all my vehicles. It is a very special oil and very heavily used by truckers as it can now be found in almost any truck stop I have been in while travelling and in Walmarts at less then $7/gallon and auto parts stores. In my opinion for the few miles that we travel in a year I think synthetic oils are a waste since the drain intervals are not increased with them. Average coach owner travels 5000 miles a year and then changes the oil. tom warner vernon center,ny 1985 PT 40 with 6V92 that cant use mobil super 1300 At 08:19 PM 1/23/2007, you wrote: >Pete, > >I've been using Mobil 1 Delvac for the last 30K miles.
