ZF transmissions--any info -help or just your commets and mechs~ - rwoodysurplus - 04-08-2007 14:28 I would like any and all info about these trans and fixes and what to try and repair ahead of time....the net has little info yet i know its somewhere as they use these trans in trains and lots of europe trucks/buses......they thumb their noses at allison but off topic. also has anyone got the trans reprogramed to the 6th gear that is avil in these trans??? they are a plantery elec shift trans with a converter My new to me 90 sp has a tran ft seal leak and it will not shift if in the power mode......The other owner just had it changed to mtr oil which i have found out is incorrect for the bus application with tran temp running at 225 something is wrong. I remember reading something about sending your control box to ZF in Chicago and they would reprogram the shift points. Apparently the trannie out of the box was not designed for MH's. I do know that the ZF website had something about motor oil not being the best lubricant.
