Update on 78 w/ bad 3208 - Mr. Wolf - 04-15-2007 06:05

Hey all,

Don't know if anyone recalls, but I posted a while back about
needing to replace a 3208 in my 78 Wanderlodge. I've been staying at
a friends for the past three plus weeks while it's being worked on,
so my connectivity is spotty right now. Sadly, there's a lot of
personal problems with the people at the shop it's at. The mechanic
is fighting with the owner of the shop, who has since brought in
another mechanic to work on it, and said owner constantly pulls the
mechanic off my rig to work on others he deems more 'important'. The
swap is taking a lot longer then expected. My irritation is also
going a lot higher then expected. The owner finally brought in the
different mechanic when I told him I was just going to come in and
do it myself and not pay him a damned thing.

Now, apart from that, I'm actually surprised at how easy it's
gone...when work was actually being performed. In about six hours,
two of which were spent unwedging the engine because the mechanic
tried to skip steps, the engine was completely out. Another few
hours to swap off all the different items between the two engines
and I would think it could be back in within a day. Most of the time
I have been present and somewhat helpful during the process thanks
to a layoff right after the repairs began. If I had known it was
going to take them four weeks to get around to working on it and it
would have been so simple I would have attempted it myself.

Joshua,
Sorry to hear about your poor shop experiences. Sounds like the kind of place
I'd want to
drive on by if I needed some work. When the job is done, please post the name
of this
place and your experience with them in the Forum Database so others can benefit
from
what you've learned. Sorry you couldn't make the LSB Rally. Maybe next time.

Joshua,
I think you should name it 'EngineEater'

Gardner
