Speaking of awnings.... - dspithaler@... - 06-11-2007 10:34 I must have cheated on that. I didn't use the two skinny guys or the fat guy. I put a step ladder at each end & I got in the middle. It worked for me. I also put one extra turn on the spring than what they recommended. Don 89 SP 36' Butler,PA If the tube is bent but does not have any kinks in it The remedy is 2 skinny guys and one fat guy position one skinny guy at each end and place fat guy in middle the skinny guys hold the tube and the fat guy GENTLY pulls down to straighten tube Stephen 77fc35 usually the guy in the middle --- In _WanderlodgeForum@WanderlodgeFWan_ (mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com) , "Scott Forman" <sforman@...> wrote: > > The big awning on my PT "sags" in the retracted position. It deploys and retracts just fine, no problems with the operation, but when it is rolled up, there is a definate sag in the middle. Any ideas? If so, then unroll it to a point where the bow is to the bottom. Then standing on a ladder, get your shoulder up under it. Have two other guys pull down on the ends and bend it slightly. Then roll it up and check it again. R.e. My large awning was reasonably straight when I purchased my coach. It is the original awning and will soon be replaced. A few times over the past three years the awning was wet from rain when I rolled it up to move on. I wonder if the weight of the water causes the aluminum extrusion cover and the internal roller bar to flex over time and lose memory? Mine has a slight but noticable dip in the middle. Plus it took a thrashing in SPI over Christmas. The tubes are made out of fairly thin sheet metal and gain their rigidity from their shape. It doesn't really surprise me that they end up sagging.
