John, the previous owner of my coach painted the old brown vinyl. Sure made
a difference in the looks of my coach.

The paint used on my coach was BASF acrylic laquer. and on the side of the
can it says Topcoat. It has lasted well and I have had the coach around 5
years.

How do you remove the upper dash panel? - bubblerboy64 - 07-19-2007 01:00
I am not certain what you would correctly call the piece I want to
remove. Its front panel at head level above the windshield, above
the panel that contains the radio and heater controls. I looked
around and the screws holding this piece in place are behind the
elbow shaped ends of the side compartments. If I could get the ends
of the side compartments off I believe the front panel would be
easy. For the life of me I see no way to get those small elbow
shaped panels loose. Gotta be a way. My goal is to cover the old
black panels at the front of the bus with some light colored vinyl or
leather. Wouldn't think this too difficult once removed. Appreciate
the help.

Well, painting would be easier in that I would not have to
necessarily remove anything to do so but what type of paint would be
used? I would have assumed that being somewhat soft and flexible
paint wouldn't stick. Jeh

John,
If you are talking about removing the small triangle pieces at the
front end of the side cabnets.....
Then you must first start inside the front of these cabnets. There is
a piece of 1/2" plywood in the front. This piece needs to come out
before you can access the screws holding those upholstered triangle
picees.

If they are currently covered in vinyl, like Pokeys were, I'd use Mar-Hyde
vinly paint, I think it is a Duplicolor product. It's a aerosol can product
that's easy to apply, comes in lots of colors. Good Luck, Doug

Well, I painted it and you know that was the biggest improvement I've
made to date for the interior. Took some time to tape off but it
really turned out great. You know that vinyl material there is just no
tape that will stick to it. I finally used duck tape and even that
didn't work real well. I find that interesting. Maybe 70's vinyl and
2007 vinyl just don't work together.
