Ed I removed mine last summer & cleaned it without breaking it. Maybe I
was just lucky. Where did you get the plastic one from?

I'm having a tough time trying to remove my green STAINED site glass on
the radiator expansion tank.I do have a spare to install(its plastic).
Ive tried pliers with duct tape and all I have done is break off the
glass wings. It is really stuck!!! Has anyone else removed it without
breaking it?? If it breaks what do you do with the glass in the
threads???

last thing I did was to use Gorilla glue and wrap it with duct tape
and let it dry.Havent tried to loosen it since then.
I ordered my spare from BB, as I remember, about $5. I posted my
stained glass several months and sombody said to get a spare first.
He said he wrenched it out..I have not been successful..

Ed,
Rather than risk a broken site glass or a leaky new one, I cleaned
the original glass.
I used a stiff wire, like a coat hanger, bent into a large U shape.
also a terry towel or shop rag cut into 1 inch strips.
Make the strips long as not to lose them into the reservoir.
Keep poking at the inside glass and eventually it will get clean.
Have patience with this hand method and it will become clean.
