Air Steps--Resurfacing Ideas - ajgibb2002 - 08-06-2007 02:25 The air steps on my '91SP are a rubber/vinyl tile that is a bit shabby, especially the leading edge. There is a right angle piece of aluminum serving as the edge on each step but it appears to have been glued and re-glued in place numerous times. I'm about to re-glue it but I know it will come off again and I'm wondering what ingenious methods have been used to re-surface the steps. I did see a picture on one of the forums where someone had replaced the step surface with diamond plate shiny steel. I think I would like some practical and durable tile-type surface with a leading edge that will last. Any help welcome. Any large carpet store-- not the big box stores can get you one. they come in 3, 4, and 6 foot lengths. I installed those in a number of coaches. There is a little maintenance upkeep on the outside as with the suns rays it needs to be cleaned often. Looks attractive on the steps especially with stainless steel risers. Trouble is-- you gotta buy a bunch to justify the custom order. I have a piece of outdoor carpet in a deep blue color that may do the trick, instead of the outside tread. A lot cheaper than buying real rubber stair treads.Brad Barton 00LXiDFW bbartonwx@...
