Good, Honest, Affordable Service - Roy & Carol Zanca 1996 WB 42' - 09-05-2007 08:28 Good, Honest, Affordable Service We've all heard the horror stories of bad service, well here is note about Good, Honest, Affordable, Service. Hello, this is Roy Zanca BB 1996 Pt42 that I became the proud owner of Nov. 07, a newbie to Bird but not to RVing, been RVing since 1970 A friend that owns RV and a fleet of dump trucks recommended I try Big Easy Service Plaza, 504-943-5000, 5000 Old Gentilly Rd., New Orleans La. for my service work, he's very satisfied with their service. Since our Blue Birds are our babies, I went to Big Easy to "Case The Joint", where I met Dan, the service manager, Wallace and Callace who oversee all repair work and Joann the backbone or the organization. She handles the phone, billing and most importantly putting you in contact with Dan, Wallace or Callace, who by the way are twins and can make you think your seeing double. Let me share Four service incidents, with happy endings. 1. While on the road, March 07,I had a leaking tag axle repaired, by a well-known RV Service Center, cost $229.00, however, when I arrived home the tag still leaked, so I brought my rig to Big Easy, they repaired the tag cost $75.00 and I got a refund of $229.00 from the other RV center. 2. Had my transmission fluid drained and changed to Transend, I provided the Transend and filters. Cost $125.00 3. 8/07 noticing a leak coming from a module on the side of the transmission, and not knowing what this was I called Jessie at Blue Bird; he explained it is the hydraulic pump unit, which is connected to the PTO on the transmission. Brought the coach to Big Easy, Wallace cleaned the module to establish if it was a Hydraulic or Transmission leak. Upon inspection, he discovered some loose bolts on the Hydraulic pump causing the hydraulic leak, which he tightened and reduced the leak to a few drops, and recommended that I find a place that could rebuild the pump, which I did, and I'm in the process of having that work accomplished. Cost $49.50 4. Engine oil and filter change they supply all material: 10 gal oil and four filters and labor $250.00 For me, one of the most overwhelming things to think of when buying a bird was where do you go when you need service or have a problem, thank the Lord for Big Easy, that fear has been removed. Their bedside manor is like, when you brought your child or grandchild to the Doctor you got to go in and see what the Doc. was going to do. Instead of handing them the keys to your rig, and instructed to go to a waiting room while they take your bird in the back garage, to do whatever and kept in the blind, while the service hours run. Big Easy service rates are $75.00 per hr. and if you go in with three problems and they get fixed in one hour you bill is $75.00 plus shop fee $8.00 and Tax, not an inspection fee for each incident or problem. They are conveniently located off I-10 in New Orleans, open 24/7 with lots of room to park your rig, sleep over if you like. It's not like a Flying J with hundreds of trucks parked with there engines running. If you're in the vicinity or passing through New Orleans and need service work or oil change, give Big Easy a call I'm sure you will be satisfied with their service.
