My 86 PT8 with 8v92 has no muffler right now. I want to install one.
Can someone tell me a model or part number I should use?

Scott what does your rig sound like without muffler. Randy and I have
discussed the possibility of a straight pipe (no muffler). We figured the
turbo would accomplish a great deal of noise reduction. I've done this with
a pickup diesel with good results. We'd be interested to know if the sound
you're experiencing now is too loud or too harsh.

If you dont have one maybe the injectors were tuned for lack of back
pressure and on install you will be required to re tune?? or it was
removed due to loss of performance?? may be more to a mod by the po
than what is on the surface. I document upgrades in a diary for the NO
(Next Owner) or CFO (Current Forgetfull Owner).

I've also been curious about what a 3208T would sound like with
little or no muffler and the long exhaust pipe. Has anyone tried it?
Also, does anyone think the stock BB FC muffler robs any HP?

That's a tough question to answer...opinions vary. For me personally
(and the previous owner, who set it up this way), it is not too
harsh. I liken it to a fire truck...it is certainly a loud rumble
that gets your attention, but not just deafening. And on the road,
with the noise behind me, I really can't even hear it. But if the
bus is at idle and you are anywhere near it outside, you will be
screaming to the man next to you.
I am considering adding a muffler solely to be a nice guy. I live in
the city, and I keep the bus behind my house. On my way out of town,
I am blowing people away, and if I come or go at night, everyone on
my cove gets a wake-up call.
I have not decided exactly if I will or won't, I just want to get an
idea of what it will cost if I decide to do it.

Not an 8v92PT but an 8.3 L Cummings. After a discussion with Woody
Ichanged my exhaust system and removed the muffler. It barks a bit
more but I have more pep. The turbo is considdered a muffler which
makes it leagal. Verry happy with the result.

Scott,
I'll have to look at my records if your really interested, but I had to
buy a new muffler last year. I remember off the top of my head it was
three feet long and oval shaped, with I think 5" inlet and outlet on
same end. Bluebirds price was very expensive! Somewhere in the forum
database, I used a company from Iowa. Air flow or auto-jet or something
like that. The point is, they were very easy to deal with, custom made
it, I had it quick and it was in the low $200.00's
