Electrical Trouble - somervillebus - 12-28-2007 14:53 Can anyone with electrical experience help me with this situation? Here recently I'm experiencing high voltage on both leg meters, actually pegging out. Also the red light on the polarity monitor is slightly blinking....however, the yellow indicator showing correct polarity is constantly on as well. When starting generator all works perfectly...I've checked shore voltage and polarity..its all checks out OK. I have a new cord reel I installed a couple of months ago?? this only occurs when I plug into shore power.. I would think since it works OK on generator it must be the shore power cord or connection. Any trouble shooting help would be appreciated..thanks for the input Slim Somerville 99 LXi Tennessee Electrical Trouble - erniecarpet@... - 12-28-2007 20:17 Slim, I wonder, since you installed a new cord reel, that perhaps one of your wires has come loose in the male end. With all the movement these plugs endure, that happened to me once. The first thought that comes to mind is the gauges in the bus and the polarity indicators are doing the job! so the POC (point of connection) has high voltage. may be a multimeter check at the poc will prove problem/cause. I wonder if you can have a reversed polarity within the bus that will show up at the hookup led indicator. If a bus r/p receptical has a heater or rehostat type item plugged into it???? _________________ Hot is ;'short rectangle' , Brass screw , black wire .... Neutral is ;'tall rectangle' ,silver screw , white wire _______________ I would manualy turn off the inverter prior to shore hookup in an effort to learn and investigate if the inverter could cause the symptoms. Sounds like it is truly on shore side of transfer switch? remember that ground (green) is not bonded to neutral (white) any place in the bus. the entire bus is treated like a UL appliance and bonding to ground is only done at the campGROUND. After several hours of tracing it was located in the shore receptacle connection. It had a loose neutral wire. Ive replaced it today rewired and all is well...no damage done to coach..that's a good thing. Ernie, I agree with you on the way the cord reel is wired, I don't care for it much and will monitor it closely Thanks again Slim Somerville 99LXi Tennessee --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, erniecarpet@... wrote: > > Slim, I wonder, since you installed a new cord reel, that perhaps one of > your wires has come loose in the male end.
