WiFi at Quartzsite - Don Bradner - 01-26-2008 03:35 On the assumption that most of the people who are with us in Quartzsite and using our WiFi also read one or more of these forums, I'm posting this here to get the word out. My router apparently has a limit on the number of simultaneous wireless associations, but it isn't defined nor is there a setting to change it. Whatever that limit is, we reached it last night and it stopped allowing more people on. The total number of IPs issued so far is 61, but the simultaneous number may be as low as 20. The only solution: Turn off your WiFi adapter or disconnect from my router when you are not using it. This will free up the "slot" for another user. The most critical time is from about 7 pm until I shut the system down around 10. Thanks, and otherwise enjoy the connection! WiFi at Quartzsite - bloomas - 01-26-2008 03:43
WiFi at Quartzsite - ronmarabito2002 - 01-26-2008 04:16 No Bob. Mine has to be reset because it is configured with a manual IP Address. Don is supposed to come fix it for me. R.E. My SOB friend and neighbor opened up his WiFi this morning to help - he has the same high-speed internet connection I have, so it is a good alternative. When you look at available networks, Blue_Thunder(Free) is me, and Blue Bird Rally (Free) is my neighbor. WiFi at Quartzsite - Dorn Hetzel - 01-26-2008 07:22 Don, What is your uplink? Dorn Hetzel 77FC35 Hogansville, GA On Jan 26, 2008 2:05 PM, Don Bradner <"bluethunder@arcatapet.com"> wrote:
WiFi at Quartzsite - Don Bradner - 01-26-2008 07:54 I have an iDirect account that is nominally 768K up, 2000K down on a 60:1 contention, so it averages about half the maximum. Monday morning I called the guy who handles the network and told him I was sharing with the Blue Bird group and needed some bandwidth, so he moved me to a fairly open channel. We are getting 1000K up and 5000K down in the evening, with about 2/3 of that during peak hours.
