If you are using the Schrader valve to air up does the pop off work
when the coach is up to pressure?

Marv, You bring up a good point.
the big protection is to set the auxilary cut off regulator on your
electric tank to give no more than 110 or 120psi. pop off valves
hang open so they are not used in the brake system to regulate.
regulating the bus system pressure is a function of the detroit
compressor ability and regulated output. you are correct in bring
up the point that aux compressor pumping has not the design
feature. there may be a popoff on the bus to keep the tank from
exploding but a line may go first. The popoff on the aux tank may
work to cause realtime issues if it blows open while on the road and
hardwired to the brake lines. Isolating it as you do with a schrader
is a good idea. If I was to have a dot inspection of my bus, any
modification like a hardwire to a non dot approved appliance ( like
an electric compressor or un isolated quick coupler etc would prompt
a red tag flatbed tow.
