300 amp alternator oil leak - Fred Hulse - 03-23-2008 13:00

Those of us with the Delco Remy oil cooled 300 amp alternator on 60 series DD.
They tend to seep oil behind the pulley after time and throw a mist of oil all over the right side of the engine compartment around and near the hydraulic reserviour.
After finding a seal and gasket package for the job ended up fairly simple.
After removing the belt and pulley, 8 bolts now hold the seal plate, after removal and cleanup the seal is removed by pressing it out the front of the flange and the new seal pressed in.An o ring is on the pulley shaft behind the removable race and a gasket installs behind the seal flange.Reassemble and you are finished.
About one hour including cleanup
