SPARE TIRE MOUNT - akav8r - 04-05-2008 15:07

Looking for ideas to mount a spare tire on a 82 35FCSB. I have a few
ideas of my own but would be interested in hearing what others have
done or thought about doing.

THANKS

SPARE TIRE MOUNT - ebirder2000@... - 04-05-2008 22:19

I have seen two types of spare tire mounts (continental kit type) on FC Wanderlodges. One used the
bumper and its framework to support the framework for the spare. The other one actually had the spare tire holder frameworkbolted through the back of the coach. I assume that they found some coach framework to attach to for that one.
I believe that most thathavea spare, carry it on the roof. Some carry the spare on the roof mounted on the rim. This of course requires some type of lift or crane to get it on and off the roof. I prefer to carry an un mounted tire on the roof. It is still unwieldy andtakes up valuable real estate on the roofwhich makes this option a problem for some.My experience has been that most everywhere there are service trucks that can remove and remount a tire on the road butthe difficulty on a Sunday afternoon might be finding an available tire.

SPARE TIRE MOUNT - brad barton - 04-06-2008 01:46

On my 84FC35, I had a small swing-out crane that could haul the tire up and down. The spare just sat on the roof.
