RIV location change - Don Bradner - 04-22-2008 05:29

For those who don't read WOG, word is that Rally-in-the-valley will be moving to
Branson, MO, this year. RATS will remain as scheduled, at least for this year.

Having made unchangeable plans based on attending RIV in Perry it means that we
won't be there, but we still plan to attend RATS.

Perhaps they could move it to a fairground around Branson, if the attendance is up?--That's a lot closer to me then Georgia!

Just curious why it moved and if it's temporary or permanent?

There has been no public announcement. After I saw a note saying that it was
going to be changed, I e-mailed Macy. Part of his response that is pertinent to
your question:

"We can take it one year at a time though, nothing is permanent or cast in
stone.

"We felt that offering a changing venue, new places to see and explore, and
not making one group (western based owners) always do all the traveling
east, was a fair and exciting way to change things up."

RIV location change - mbulriss - 04-22-2008 07:16

My initial impression is that it doesn't seem like a bad idea to move
it around the center portion of the country to help more people to
attend. Logistically, it will be a lot more of a challenge for the
factory to pull off each year. Finding places large enough to hold
everyone that might attend is a real challenge, but FMCA does it (I
noted the KOA has something like 187 total sites, and there were what,
200 at last year's? What if it grows to 300 or 400 like year's past?
Do you limit attendance based on first come to register and then
potentially alienate others? There's a PR nightmare.)

I'm sure some purists will moan the moving of RIV, but new company,
new direction, move forward from the past and create your own history
isn't all bad. Easing the travel burden of everyone outside the
southeast might even increase attendance.

Good luck to them.

That would be great as we will be in Branson from May till Nov

Now if they would make it priced reasonable for us retired folks.

The riv was only announced yesterday in Texas. It will take some time
for the Wanderlodge Groups to put it all together
I think you are going to see some smaller regional Shows instead of
one big one at Perry.
Other Manufacturers do it also
Give it a week and call Brenda Rogers.

RIV location change - Eric Perplies - 04-23-2008 17:06

Branson, MO; what a great idea. For some of us who prefer staying
west in the winter choosing Branson will save us nearly $1000 in fuel.
We'll be there now that it's a lot closer for us.
