82 PT No Air Throttle!! - Stephen H - 06-04-2008 12:47

I have seen this problem appear in another forum, but not sure how
applicable it was to this model year.

82 PT-40 6V92 engine. No throttle after sitting for a few months. Is
there somewhere to look for a valve that may be sticking? Tap on a
stuck valve? Help, looking to purchase- Get it home..

Thanks,
Stephen H

Stephen,

I had some trouble with the foot air throttle on our 88 FC last
Winter, So I am not sure if your 82 has the same system,
If you do a word search air throttle or bendix cruise.
There is some information, on this Forum. There are also a few
drawings in the files section.

There are several pressure air valves, check valves etc.
Not a simply system , but easy after you locate the bad part Smile

Steven can you pump the tanks and evacuate several times????? Befor
you put it on the road be sure there is a way to kill the engine if
the R's runaway. Goodluck

82 PT No Air Throttle!! - Mike McMahan - 06-05-2008 02:01

I owned a 6V92Red PT 40 for about 6 years. The air throttle and high
idle systems work together. If the high idle switch is in the on
position the throttle will not work. My high idle did not work and I
discovered this one day. I think I still have a diagram/parts
manual/repair book on that system somewhere. Where is the coach you
are looking at? Mine ended up in Florida. Mike McMahan 96 42"
