The coach of the week brought back many memories of my 74 Thing.

Was at Perry, Ga in 96 for the FMCA rally and saw a coach towing a
thing. Said to Lyn, "I sure would like to have that as it is the
perfect toad". Met the owner and asked him if it might be for sale (he
knew he had a live one) and he indicated he could be swayed. After the
negotiations, he even agreed to tow it to my house since I couldn't
tow 2 cars.

We enjoyed that Thing for about 4 years and used it the way VW
intended and maybe a few ways they didn't intend. It was fully
restored and I am still sorry I sold it and have been clandestinely
looking for maybe another one. Especially in these times of high fuel,
it just becomes an even better choice for a toad, under 2,000 lbs, air
cooled, 4 passenger convertible and light truck when the seat are
down. With a 1900cc built VW motor or Porsche swap, it can also be
much more fun Smile

Jim&Denise bought it from other wanderlodge owners Jim&Linda, quite
a fun story. Still gonna be hard to top Lucas&Lindas French?Thing.
