I have a rubber oil lineconnecting to the 8vblock with an elbow on the 8vblock.. since the DDec computer reads oil pressure, the out put of the sender must go to the computer then computer controls the dash gauge, or op sender sends to both in parellel??? then again it could be that the dash gauge is reading a different sender?? if you ran the bus for any length of time with no oil pressure on the gauge, and didnt register a code on ddec, that could be a hint . here is apage on the ddecII opsender repairfrom a site I use to help with some of the old crap I use on jobsites. they have documents used by the military for the repair of field equipment. It (the big one) looks exactly like the sensor on my Yanmar genset, which I replaced earlier this year AND happen to have an extra of! Anyone know if they're cross-compatible before I swap them and fry something? 2. What's that little one with the orange wire for? Are there two oil pressure sensors on this engine? If so, why? 3. Looks like there are a couple of extra ports on that manifold... can I simply hook up my mechanical gauge I just bought to install in the engine compartment to one of them? Since you do not have DDEC your BB manual should give you some ideal how your warning system works, if in fact you have one. If you do not have a warning system, disregard because I don't have a clue. I do not want to steer you wrong, but I really think that is what it is. If so, why?" That's a Kysor 3 psi pressure switch, there are 2 on mine, one on each side of the oil pressure sending unit. One side passes ground over to the two solenoids mounted a foot further down on the rail, and cuts off the ground after 3 psi has been exceeded. (Perhaps so you can't turn the starter over after the engine has started running.) One of those two solenoids supplies the positive power to the starter solenoid, while the other supplies the ground to the starter solenoid, Bluebird redundancy(??) I don't recall tracing out the second 3 psi switch, perhaps, if yours is the same, you will figure out where that switch passes it's ground? Hope this helps.
