I doubt it is contaminated fuel, this sounds more like a air lock. The
problem(or at least as i understand it) became immediately evident after
changing out all the filters and such. I would first recheck EVERY gasket and
line, things such as a misplaced hose clamp not quite fitted onto the nipple, a
cock-eyed gasket, kinked fuel line by moving something or twisting it, all could
be significant factors. Of course contaminated fuel is a menace as we all know.

I went through this very same problem last week when I was testin' a genset
here at work. The easiest way to eliminate the tank as the source of the problem
would be to hook up a five gallon can of diesel from the very back end, then
start tracing upstream. Or try right before the Racor, which is an easy place to
put the can and hose next to the LP door. These methods of deductions will
easily(hopefully!) put you onto a path that should show your problem quickly by
process of elimination.

Last week I changed out my secondary filter, and did not even bleed afterwards,
amazingly no air locks, no problems, yes, I was astonished.

Also what Jeff Miller said about ether being used is totally correct, BE VERY
CAREFUL, starting fluid should only be used as a last ditch effort, and
judiciously at that. I only recommend using ether on pos engines, usually where
there are gaping holes, literally, in the pistons.

Also many apologies to other list members who e-mailed me a couple of weeks
back. I have been frantically building marine gensets and propulsion units here
in Seattle with lil' time left for fun. Heck, this weekend was spent cleaning my
carpet and changing the Earl(oil), couldn't even make it to Stevens Pass to do
some great train watching, arrrggghhh!
