Batteries Bad - hippieforever3 - 02-14-2009 09:16 Almost every major city has an industrial battery supplier. The kind that carries golf cart, truck and fork-lift batteries. FIND THAT PLACE !!! They carry brands that have national warrantees, prices are as good or better than discount places and in my limited experience, they are OVERWHELMINGLY knowledgable. I found a place that will sell me Trojan 105 (blems) for $75 and he's trying to talk me into Trojan refurbished at rediculously low prices, which he swears will last another 5 years minimum. Some are excellent, some are good, and some are very poorly done. Remanufactured batteries rarely have any warranty. The company my B-I-L worked for mostly sold their batteries to used car dealers. The quality they produced were OK, but hardly "great." The dealers only wanted to pay for a battery that would hold up for a few weeks while the car was on the lot, then they didn't care if the battery died once the car was sold. My brother-in-law used one of their batteries in his car -- but then, he could replace it whenever it went bad... Presumably, an industrial battery supplier might be stocking somewhat better refurbished units, since they probably do a lot of repeat business. But the warning is to be careful about your supplier if you want to work with rebuilt batteries. Batteries Bad - hippieforever3 - 02-19-2009 09:39 This particular battery place I found tells me that most of their refurbished golf cart batteries are ones they sold new the previous year. They have their warrantee tag on them. Batteries Bad - John Mann - 02-20-2009 03:19 Here is a cheap fix to a battery that is old out of warranty. Take a qt of 140 degree distilled water add 10 heaping tablespoons of Epsom salt mix up add this to the battery shake the battery and put a charger on it and if it doesn't take a charge wait a day or more then try. It will De sulfate the plates that get corroded over time.
