parking brake or trnasmission Help - mjzakowski - 08-31-2009 06:17

Used the MH two weeks ago and now I want to use it a again and I release the
parking brake and put it into grear and nothing happens. Is their a possible a
blown fuse or a modular that went out?? and if so where would it be located??

Joe- have you (sorry to ask) checked the tranny fluid level? Does the fluid have
a burned or toasted smell? Our tranny shifter has a mechanical cable. Can you
feel the coach trying to move or does the engine just revv up?

Try reverse? I dont know how electronic the set up is but make sure the rpm are
low when you shift. check that nothing is on the tps which usually is the fuel
pedal (floormat).

Reset the park brake to park/hold go to rear drive duels and listen for the
brakes to let off when someone in the cab releases the brake. when you reset the
park brake to hold/park you should hear the GHUSH dump of air sound. if not, the
brakes never released. Find a mobile tech don't tow.

parking brake or trnasmission Help - Joyce and Richard Hayden - 09-03-2009 00:34

Mine did that awhile back because the engine speed was just a tad over 300 RPM. I was stuck in the middle of a street in front of my mechanic's place. He fiddled with it by shiftingquickly into Drive immediately after start-up. The cause was a dirty air throttle.

parking brake or trnasmission Help - GARY MINKER - 09-05-2009 23:53

Is your fluid low? Is your dipstick original? Sometimes with the 5 speed you have to let the pump-pump up in the tranny or it won't move. I have had this for years. The tranny is fine but wants aboput 30 seconds of "higher" rpm to get its wits about it. You can check the brakes/parking pressure switvh and its relay by putting the engine in high idle. when the brakes or parking is applied, the engine won't go in to high idle. there is a high idle killer on the tranny shifter also but it won't affect the tranny.
