In re-doing the interior of our Bird, we are removing wallpaper that some idiot
plastered in the Kitchen/Dinette area. They covered the natural looking wood
with this god-awful paper. We steamed it off, but they painted the walls white
before papering.. I used my random orbit sander to remove most of the
paint...Unfortunatly, I also went thru the top layer laminate, which left a few
brown/tan bare spots. What can I use to discuise (recolor) these spots? I plan
to satin varathane it when finished...
The vynil bottom of the storage bin overe the dinette was also papered. How can
I remove (take out)the bins to properly finish this vynil?....

Jack,

Some wood-finishing specialty-businesses have a kind of rubber comb that you can dip in darker paint to simulate wood grain. If you have the Wanderlodge Pecan finish laminate, that may be too fine a grain to work. Ours looked just as good new 15 years later. Maybe you can cut out a piece from a less conspicuous area. With today's digital cameras and printers, you might even be able to take a photograph of the good part of the wall and print your own laminate and replace it that way..just a thought. Maybe you could just put a bottle opener on that spot in the wall.

Elmers glue mixed with primer is a prep I roll on paneling prior to paint.
Elmers sticks to paneling and the paint to elmers. it could be that the paint
was a surface prep product.

I bet anything you do now will be an attempt (an endeavor to accomplish) and
looked screwed. Paint it one color and accentuate the better condition woods and
laminated in the bus. Nothing good looking about an attempt. Most friends wont
tell you it looks screwed.
